Turntable is a laboratory for sustainable food production and urban planning, as well as a center for peer learning and urban culture. Turntable also functions as a training center, where citizens learn new and old basic skills, such as recycling, repairing, tinkering, peer production, processing and growing. Teaching takes place in the form of workshops and peer learning, because we all have hidden talents and knowledge that we are happy to share. Solutions found together and shared skills are powerful social experiences. During the winter season, courses are held at Dodo’s office and the adjacent kitchen at the Pasila old roundhouse.
Dodo has received course support from the Visio since 2024. In 2026, the support is planned to be used to organize a Fermentation Course, a Bicycle Repair Course, Urban Gardening ABC course, a Welding Course, a Mushroom Workshop and a Sustainability Course.

Is your bike in need of a little spring touch up?
Or do you have an old bike you would like to revive back to use?
During this four-session Fix your own bike – bicycle repair course, participants will learn about basic bicycle mechanics and how to maintain their own bicycles on a shoestring budget. The course provides a good foundation for identifying and repairing bicycle faults at home. No previous experience of bicycle maintenance is required to participate – the course aims to provide a fun and accessible package of information, new skills, and confidence that will help you keep your bike rolling!
During the first session of the course, you will learn about the different parts of a bike and how they function, as well as the most common faults. In the second session, you will learn how to identify faults and maintenance needs on your own bike and how to repair them with easily available tools, chemicals, and supplies — safely! The third session focuses on replacing bike parts (e.g., chain, hub bearing etc.), special tools and their use and deepening your knowledge of your very own bike. The fourth session introduces various places and opportunities where you can continue to maintain your bike and deepen your knowledge. The course is bilingual (Finnish and English). Dodo provides materials (tools, chemicals, study materials), warm drinks and work gloves to all participants. Participants are expected to wear clothes suitable for bike maintenance (the kind of clothes you won’t mind of getting permanent stains or dirt on) You may bring your own bike (regardless of the condition) to the sessions 2, 3 and 4. Your bike can be stored at Dodo’s premises between sessions. This course does not include fixing of electronic components or e-bikes.
Timetable:
April 13, 5:30–8:30 p.m. Session 1: Bike parts and how they work + common problems
